Hot work notification

Notification is required to carry out "hot work" i.e. burning, cutting, welding, grinding or other similar work involving heat sources onboard vessels in a harbour.

The specific approval of the Harbourmaster is required to undertake hot work:

  • on any large vessel at Akaroa or Kaikōura
  • aboard vessels carrying certain hazardous cargoes; or
  • in/around fuel tanks/pipework.
