Hearings underway for draft Long-Term Plan 2024-34

Our Long-Term Plan process is taking another step forward, with four days of public hearings beginning on Monday 29 April.

More than 1,300 individuals and groups provided feedback on our draft 10-year workplan and budget during the initial submission period, which closed on 14 April. This number is comparable to those received for the 2021-31 Long-Term Plan.

All submissions are now available on our Long-Term Plans page.

We thank those who took the time to tell us what they think; whether it was signalling we’re on the right track, asking us to do more, or suggesting areas where we could cut back.

Hearings are for submitters who chose the option to present to Council in person. The agendas have been published on our website.

Recordings from the hearings will be available soon.

Next steps

Once the hearings have wrapped up, Council will meet to deliberate from 22 May 2024. This will be a public meeting where Councillors will consider all the information they’ve received including submissions from the public, staff advice, conversations with constituents and other sources. They will then give staff direction that may require changes to the draft plan.

Council will then meet at the end of June 2024 to adopt the final Long-Term Plan 2024-34, which will set out the confirmed programmes and budgets – including rates figures – for the upcoming financial year (2024/25).
