Climate change is no longer only an issue for the future, but also a challenge for the present. From local, regional and central government to rural and urban industries and communities, we all have a responsibility to take action – both to minimise the future impacts of climate change and to adapt to changes we are already experiencing.
Our Climate Action Plan Te Mahere Huringa Āhuarangi is focused on building impactful, equitable, and holistic climate action for our region. It brings together a range of actions we are taking as an organisation, in partnership and collaboration with Papatipu Rūnanga, councils and stakeholders across the region, and our communities.
Coming together and taking decisive, bold, and sustainable action to mitigate our greenhouse gas emissions and reduce future climate risks in the region will build a thriving and resilient region for us and for future generations.
