Resource consent application:

CRC082614 – Alford Park Limited has applied to the Canterbury Regional Council for a water permit to take water from Taylor’s Stream in the Hakatere / Ashburton River catchment during times of high flow via an existing intake at NZMS 260 K36:902-221. Water will be taken at a rate not exceeding 500 litres per second (l/s) and a volume not exceeding 3,036,290 cubic metres per year, including in combination with any water taken under consent CRC200254. Water will be stored in a pond and used under existing resource consents for irrigation at 2535 Ashburton Staveley Road, Ashburton Forks.

The taking of water will be subject to the minimum flows specified for the ‘B allocation block’ in the Canterbury Land and Water Regional Plan.  This includes the taking of water being required to cease when the flow in Taylor’s Stream is at or below 3,700 litres per second and when the flow in the Ashburton River mainstem at the State Highway 1 recorder site is at or below 14,000 litres per second.

A consent term ending 26 September 2030 is sought.
