Mr P H and Mrs M J Evans have applied to Canterbury Regional Council for a resource consent relating to the planting of 78.2 hectares of Pinus radiata at 28 Pareora Gorge Road, Maungati, legally described as Lot 3 DP 76918, Lot 2 DP 3311, Lot 2 DP 76918, Lot 2 DP 78796, and Rural Section 34502.

The proposed afforestation site is located within the flow-sensitive Taiko Stream Catchment.

The planting will take place on a 1,000 hectare property to assist with gorse and erosion control.

Pinus radiata are proposed to be planted at 1,000 stems per hectare, with planting taking place over a 5-year period.

The applicant has requested a consent duration of 35 years.
