Canterbury Regional Council has received an application from Waimakariri District Council to take groundwater from bore BW22/0088 for Community Water Supply purposes as part of the Oxford Rural No. 1 Supply Scheme. Community Water Supply is defined as water taken primarily for community drinking-water supply, and includes that also used for institutional, industrial, processing, or stockwater purposes or amenity irrigation use and fire-fighting activities.
The application relates to a proposal for:
- The taking of groundwater from bore BW22/0088, 107.0 metres deep and located near McPhedrons Road, Oxford.
- Water will be taken at rate not exceeding 30 litres per second with a daily volume of 2,592 cubic metres per day and an annual volume not exceeding 800,000 cubic metres per year.
- The creation of a Community Drinking-water Supply Protection Zone of 100 metres in any direction of bore BW22/0088.
An assessment of effects detailing the proposal has been provided with the application.
Submissions must be received by Environment Canterbury not later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday 7 March 2018.
