Hurunui District Council - Amberley Community Water Take

Resource consent application CRC175709: To take groundwater for Community Drinking Water Supply near Racecourse Road, Amberley.

Hurunui District Council has applied to Environment Canterbury to take groundwaterto take groundwater from bore M34/5707, 250mm diameter and 147m deep, at map reference NZTM2000 1577088 mE 5226281 mN, and a proposed bore, BV24/0092, also 250mm diameter and 147m deep, at map reference NZTM2000 1577098 mE 5226278 mN, both at the junction of Racecourse Road and Stanton Road, approximately 4 kilometres north of the Amberley township.

The proposed take is from the Waipara Groundwater Allocation Zone.

The applicant has proposed to take water from both bores at a combined rate not exceeding 25 litres per second and 2,160 cubic metres per day, and a combined annual volume of up to 681,374 cubic metres.

The water is required for the Amberley District reticulated public supply, and would replace existing consent CRC070201, which allows the applicant to take water from bore M34/5707 at a rate not exceeding 15 litres per second and 1,296 cubic metres per day, and a combined annual volume of up to 472,040 cubic metres. Consent CRC070201 expires on 12 November 2018.

 A consent duration of 30 years is sought.
